Psychology is defined as the behavioral science of human mind and behavior.

Psychology is distinct from other fields because of the emphasis on scientific methodology to understand human mind and behavior. Psychology is an intersection among natural science, humanism, and social science that helps to understand various phenomena in their concern by applying psychological studies. Psychological subjects are various enough to belong to the college of natural science and the college of humanity. It can often be divided into basic psychology and applied psychology.

Basic psychology deals with human mind processes by scientific method, and includes cognitive psychology, perception psychology, learning psychology, personality psychology, biological psychology, social psychology, linguistic psychology, development psychology, etc. Applied psychology applies basic psychological knowledge to real situations, and includes clinic psychology, counselling psychology, industrial psychology, organizational psychology, health psychology, consumer psychology, advertisement psychology, criminal psychology, forensic psychology, etc.

With the expansion of social demands for specialized psychological knowledge, the opportunities and areas for students majoring in psychology are increasing for the students majoring at psychology.

BAs in psychology holders work in the various fields such as academic areas, research centers, mental related institutions of counseling centers or hospitals, consulting firms, advertizing, public opinion poll companies, national institutions, and regular companies. However, to work as a specialist, more education beyond master£§s degree is required.
