□ Chungbuk National University (Acting President Chung Eui-bae) has been selected as a certified university for the 2022 International Education Competency Accreditation System (IEQAS). □ The accreditation period for the 2022 Internationalization of Education Competence Accreditation System (IEQAS) is three years from March 2023 to February 2026.
□ Education Internationalization Competency Certification System is a system that the Ministry of Education recognizes universities with a certain level of internationalization competency in order to manage the quality of higher education institutions and attract outstanding foreign students.

A. Period: Until 11AM Feb. 28, 2023, No later than the 1st semester begins(Except weekends and holidays)
B. Form whom
- Applicants who were expecting to graduate, but can NOT graduate until the 1st semester begins
- Overseas applicants who can NOT get VISA issued until the 1st semester begins - Applicants who can NOT submit valid certi. of Language Proficiency Exam(e.g. TOPIK 3 etc.) described on the guideline before 1st semester begins(in Feb.).
- Applicants who want to cancel the admission due to personal reasons

- Cancellation of Enrollment(Refer to the attachment's forms)
- Payment receipt(Please refer to page 12 of the attachment.)
- Copy of the applicant’s ID card(Copy of the proxy’s ID card)

D. Notes
- The full refund is possible as long as the applicant submits the Cancellation of Enrollment with other required documents before the 1st semester begins.
- If applicants submit the cancellation form after the 1st semester begins, it will be regarded not as ‘Cancellation of Enrollment’ but ‘Withdrawing from university’, which means the refund will be done excluding the admission fee and some amount based on 「CBNU Regulations」.
※ Even issues with late VISA, VISA refusal or any unexpected issues can NOT make any exceptions about the above policies.
- The Cancellation of Enrollment can NOT be taken back. - Reimbursement of tuition is only available to domestic(korean) bank account.(Overseas refund is not possible)

Important Features Which Could be Missed by CBNU Students
In March, freshmen who are yet unfamiliar with thier university will face a new semester. The majority of students are able to check announcements on CBNU official website or other related websites such as Gaesinnuri. However some students, especially freshmen and foreign students, may have some difficulty ascertaining specific details or feel the basic advices from their seniors to be insufficient to help them understand and navigate the various websites. This article will provide a handy summary of the various services provided by CBNU that students might have missed.
CBNU Library
The library is located in various buildings across campus and it consists of ▲The 1, 2 Central library (N12), ▲The Law library (N2 room 508), and ▲The Medical library (E7-2 room 103). Plus, for students, CBNU runs the central library’s online website and mobile library app. The library website can be accessed through the banner located in the middle of the CBNU official website, and the app can be downloaded from the Google play store or the App store.
The basic functions of the library homepage are ▲Searching books and checking their availability, ▲Reserving up to 2 books per person, ▲Requesting the purchase of books that are not in the CBNU library collection yet. Students can find out how to use these services on the ‘library search banner’ and ‘library service banner’ on the homepage.
In addition to borrowing books, the library website provides various services such as ▲Access to the external library homepage, ▲Library E-data (electric data) search, ▲Using E-books and audiobooks, ▲Online classes for language/certifications/civil servant and public enterprise exams, ▲Access to domestic/international academic papers. Students who want to collect data for assignments or learn various things can get help from these services. Do you know that the ‘Kaltura Content Management System’ came in Blackboard? According to a survey of enrolled students, 50% of students said that they don’t know that the Kaltura Content Management System came in Blackboard. Therefore, a CBT reporter is going to report about what ‘Kaltura Content Management System’ is and the distinction of this system. Before introducing the system, let’s hear about the student’s position. The Kaltura system was usually unpopular among the students who used it, because there was an attendance acknowledgment error. In fact, among the students who responded to the survey, all students, using the system expressed their discomfort with it. The reason for the discomfort is ‘There is usually an error in the admission of attendance,’ which accounted for the largest percentage of 33%. One student, using the Kaltura system said that “If students want to get 100% attendance in the Kaltura system, they can’t speed up or rewind the content. What is an advantage of the Kaltura content management system? The Kaltura content management system can be integrated with Blackboard, so it can be used within Blackboard currently used in CBNU. Through this, the system provides content production, sharing, and utilization for professors and supports learning management in the curriculum by allowing students to access videos and check to view records by data and graphs.Q3. What is specifically different from the Kaltura content management system compared to the previous management system? Through Kaltura’s Cloud Global CDN Traffic, Transmission and Storage Unlimited Service, and Smart Development Research Institute, it is enabled to support rapidly increased non-face-to-face classes due to COVID-19 and open accurate Kaltura video attendance up by providing cloud CDN traffic, transmission, and usage storage monitoring. In addition, in connection with e-campus, it is possible to unify the production, management, and utilization of online educational content to enhance the quality of educational contents.Q4. What are the most common complaints that you receive from students, using the Kaltura content management system? The most common complaints by e-campus users are about ‘online attendance check.’ Video classes based on the Kaltura system provide video viewing record as data and graphs, allowing students to check attendance records that cannot be verified through the online attendance system. Therefore, in the video class attendance inquiry, reporter informs the students about ‘how to check the attendance of the Kaltura system’ and use it as a supplement to the online attendance inquiry to the professors.Q5. Do you think there are any improvement points to the Kaltura content management system? How do you think the system should be improved it at all? As the LMS(Learning Management System) is used in conjunction with the online attendance system and the Kaltura system, and sometimes the connection does not work properly in unexpected areas. March has finally arrived spilling warm sunlight over the campus after a long freezing winter. Even though the world has been in all kinds of trouble since COVID-19 ambushed us last year, CBNU could begin a new semester. In this article we are going to look at the class operation plan of the 2021 spring semester, and have Q&As with the department of academic support. Starting with the class operation plan for undergraduate classes, CBNU made it a rule to hold contact-free classes. However, some courses are allowed to implement the Hyflex learning model with full face to face learning. These exceptions are mainly made for classes requiring experiments and practical classes. Immersion periods will be conducted by each grade. These can also be full face to face classes if the national social distancing level is relaxed or the professor requests it because of the characteristics of the course. The tools which may be required for contact-free learning differ according to whether it is real time classes, downloadable classes, Zoom classes, MS Team classes etc. Depending on the situation, tools such as e-campus and Google classroom may be used for uploading videos and or PPT’s with recorded voice. However, be warned, it is not possible to replace whole classes with assignments or online community study modules without videos and recorded voice. Moving on to implementation methods of tests, it depends on the professor of the course, and it can be different to its class operation style. For instance, a class which is operated online can have a face-to-face examination and vice versa. This midterm examination is not compulsory, so the professor can choose to have a test or not. Also, the method is chosen by the professor. On the other hand, the final examination is mandatory with the method chosen by the professor. Considering all the external challenges brought on to students because of the unavoidable contact free classes due to COVID-19, and the negative effect it may have on the performance of students, this spring semester has the same standard of grade assessment as last fall semester. Type 1 subjects will be graded with 50% of students receiving an A or A+ and the rest of the students receiving a score ranging from B+ to F depending on their performance. Type 2 subjects will be assessed with absolute evaluation, while subjects which normally assess students with absolute evaluation will not be affected. CBT posed a few pertinent questions about the announced course operation plan to Lee Min-guen, the head of academic supports team.▲Q1. If the COVID-19 situation becomes relaxed, are there any possibilities to make changes in the principles of contact-free classes?A1. There will be no changes in the principles. However, recently, the social distancing level was changed to 1.5 and therefore it is permitted to gather if the total number of people is under 100. Therefore, at a professor’s request, a course with fewer than 100 people can have face to face classes. If the professor asks, any kind of course can be conducted in person. Experiment and practice courses are priorities. However, even theory courses can be approved if the professors have difficulties to use the contact-free classes, or if in-person classes are important for operating courses.▲Q2. The semi absolute examination standard, for this spring semester, determines that a professor can award an A or A+ grade to 50% of students. How about other grades?A2. Other grades have no standards and it depends on the professor’s discretion and the student’s performance. Since a maximum of 50% of A grades may be awarded, the total percentage of other grades (B+ to F) can be 50% minimum.▲Q3. Subjects that have absolute evaluation have been expanded. How are students assessed by it?A3. There are no fixed criteria in the absolute examination method. Thus, grades fully depend on the professor, so all students in the course can get A grades. In other words, it is a method that gives grades regardless of the ratio under the professor’s discretion.▲Q4. Can contact-free classes change into in-class, in-person classes during the semester?A4. Yes, it is possible, however, changes in course delivering methods directly effects student’s residence problems among others. Therefore, we, the Department of Academic Support, suggest not making changes after the semester began. If the professor wants to change the method in the middle of the semester, they must get full agreement from all students and give at least 2 weeks notice before face-to-face classes start.▲ Q5. If confirmed cases of COVID-19 occur during face-to-face classes, how would CBNU deal with it?A5. CBNU would close the classroom where the class is and find people who have had contact with confirmed cases through contact tracing. After these steps, the course would become contact-free. If professors are confirmed cases, they will be replaced and the courses would be continued. The department of academic support will try our best not to stop the courses.▲ Q6. Do you have anything left to tell students?A6. The Department of Academic Support is trying to exert a strong effort for students’ sake. Even a small announcement needs numerous discussions with our staffs and professors and students’executives. Even if there is an unfavorable factor, like COVID-19 and its related problems, we try our best to keep the quality of courses as high as possible and we always put the safety of students, first.
