Even if the hardware part of IT industry has developed enormously, the part has reached its limits.

On the other hand, software companies like Google and Apple, etc. have kept growing, leading IT industry.

That is, recently IT industry has changed rapidly into a pattern where software dominates hardware, and Korea also tries to respond swiftly to such a change of business model.

In the country-level, we need to strengthen our software capacity.

According to a 2009 report of a national policy institute, it is expected that personnel demand in software industry will increase 9.4% on average every year, and that there will be shortage of more than 56 thousand software workers for coming four years. And, as part of the government policy for balanced development of the nation, software-related public organizations (Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA), Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), etc.) will be moved to Chungbuk province.

In broader perspective, it is expected that demands for software specialists will increase rapidly for the establishment and operation of the knowledge-based society represented by 'smart' and 'mobile'. Thus, the prospect of the Software Department is very bright, and it will play a great role.
